Hi,
I just put a new OmniBroker Alpha Release version 3.0a8 on our ftp
servers. The C++ and the Java versions are now separate downloads:
OmniBroker for C++:
ftp://ftp.ooc.com/pub/OmniBroker/alpha/OB-3.0a8.tar.gz
ftp://ftp.ooc.com/pub/OmniBroker/alpha/OB-3.0a8.zip
ftp://ftp.ooc.de/pub/OmniBroker/alpha/OB-3.0a8.tar.gz
ftp://ftp.ooc.de/pub/OmniBroker/alpha/OB-3.0a8.zip
OmniBroker for Java:
ftp://ftp.ooc.com/pub/OmniBroker/alpha/JOB-3.0a8.tar.gz
ftp://ftp.ooc.com/pub/OmniBroker/alpha/JOB-3.0a8.zip
ftp://ftp.ooc.de/pub/OmniBroker/alpha/JOB-3.0a8.tar.gz
ftp://ftp.ooc.de/pub/OmniBroker/alpha/JOB-3.0a8.zip
To compile the C++ version with MT support, you also need the newest
JThreads/C++ version 1.0b3 (see my other posting).
Note that the Java version does not contain the IDL-to-Java translator.
You either need to build this translator yourself by compiling the
OmniBroker for C++ distribution, or you can download one of our
precompiled binaries:
Windows:
ftp://ftp.ooc.com/pub/OmniBroker/alpha/jidl-win32.tar.gz
ftp://ftp.ooc.de/pub/OmniBroker/alpha/jidl-win32.tar.gz
SGI:
ftp://ftp.ooc.com/pub/OmniBroker/alpha/jidl-irix6.tar.gz
ftp://ftp.ooc.de/pub/OmniBroker/alpha/jidl-irix6.tar.gz
Linux:
ftp://ftp.ooc.com/pub/OmniBroker/alpha/jidl-linux.tar.gz
ftp://ftp.ooc.de/pub/OmniBroker/alpha/jidl-linux.tar.gz
Except for the IDL-to-Java translator, OmniBroker for Java is of course
100% Java.
I think OmniBroker 3.0 is now very close to the first "Public Preview
Release". I don't expect any major bugs or changes in the API. The main
reason why I do not already release this version as "Preview Release"
but still as "Alpha" is because the new features of 3.0 are still not
documented yet.
I would especially be interested in your feedback concerning the MT
support in OB3.0. Except for the missing thread pool concurrency model
(which will be added shortly), I believe that no other ORB offers such a
wide range of concurrency models. The only drawback at present is that
all these nice concurrency models are nowhere documented yet :-(.
Therefore please do not hesitate to post any questions you might have to
this list or to myself.
Best regards,
Marc
