STAR Solaris Machine at LBL available.




6 new Linux boxes are now available for STAR and Grand Challenge software
development and running. 

starlx01.lbl.gov
starlx02.lbl.gov
starlx03.lbl.gov
starlx04.lbl.gov
starlx05.lbl.gov
starlx06.lbl.gov
starlx07.lbl.gov (development platform - not currently usable)
starlx08.lbl.gov (development platform - usable, but not stable)

These Linux boxes are 333 MHz Dual Pentium-II CPUs with 256 MB of SDRAM, 9
GB hard drives, and fast ethernet network connections running RedHat 5.0.
They are part of a cluster of 8 Dual Pentium-II boxes and one Sun
Enterprise server (starsu00.lbl.gov - see previous announcement) for use on
STAR and Grand Challenge development and production work.

If you have a PDSF account, you should be able to logon without hinderance.
If you are in the star and/or gc5 groups, your home directory should be
mounted on and served from starsu00.
