cvs woes

I tried playing with a cvs repository on local disk
on starsu00 but had the same intermittent problem
with cvs locks (my own).
Roughly 50% of the time a checkout will get stuck
waiting for a lock of mine in a directory
and the other 50% works.
Of course, if you are checking out several directories at
at once, the chance of getting stuck on a lock
increases painfully.

So for now, the GC cvs repository will not move.

For your info, if you get "can not write to history file"
just do "chmod +w $CVSROOT/CVSROOT/history".
