Smoking

California has a law prohibiting smoking inside all public buildings. This means that no smoking is allowed at any place inside the Clark Kerr Campus. Smoking is allowed five feet from the building.

Medical Emergencies

Emergency medical situations can be handled at nearby hospitals. However, these services will be charged to the individual and it is recommended that foreign visitors obtain medical insurance prior to their arrival in the United States.

Messages

The telephone number for contact with participants at the meeting will be: (510) 642-6290. Attendees will not be called out at the meeting to receive phone calls, except in case of emergency. Each suite has a telephone that allows local, 800-number, and credit-card calls. Pay phones are available in common areas.

Weather

In July the weather is usually in the low 70s F during the day and will drop 10 degrees F in the evenings. Fog is common in the evening and early mornings. Comfortable clothing is suggested, and you should bring a sweater or light jacket. Walking shoes are essential. San Francisco is usually windy and about 5 degrees F cooler than Berkeley.
