Jets and hadronization in cold QCD matter
Dr. Alberto Accardi (JLab/Hampton University)
Abstract: I will discuss parton propagation and fragmentation in cold nuclear matter, focusing on nuclear modification of inclusive hadron spectra and jet production in e+A collisions. These observables allow one to access the dynamics of color confinement, the QCD evolution of parton showers, as well as to measure the transport properties of cold QCD matter. Furthermore, e+A collisions allow to benchmark theoretical models of parton energy loss and time scales of hadron formation in a known medium: this is essential for truly calibrated QGP tomography at RHIC and LHC. I will review how the current phenomenology compares to fixed target data, and detail the novel possibilities offered by a future Electron-Ion Collider. |
