Mean pt and Inverse Slope Systematics of Hadrons Produced in p+p and Au+Au at RHIC EnergyAbstract: Particle production in the pT region of a few GeV in high-energy p+p and Au+Au reactions is discussed. The or inverse slope T of various hadrons as a function of their mass can give insight whether the final-state particles were produced collectively or via fragmentation of independently produced minijets. In particular, if a dense QGP is produced in Au+Au, in which the c-quarks are kinetically equilibrated, the and T of charmed hadrons (D-mesons) is significantly smaller than in case of minijet fragmentation without rescattering prior to or after the fragmentation. The hadron dN/dmTdy distributions and the characteristic functions (m) and T(m) obtained within PYTHIA (p+p), FRITIOF 7 (Au+Au) and relativistic hydrodynamics (p+p and Au+Au) at RHIC energy are discussed. |
