*** *** Note that the deadline for submission of abstracts has been extended to *** May 31, 1998. But you are not required to wait! *** Call for Papers / Call for Posters The CHEP'98 Organizing Committee invites submissions of papers for the International Conference on COMPUTING IN HIGH ENERGY AND NUCLEAR PHYSICS August 31 - September 4, 1998 Hotel Inter-Continental, Chicago, Illinois, USA Submissions for Parallel Sessions Submissions of papers are invited on substantial and original research or on innovative practical applications with relevance to all areas of computing in High Energy Physics, including experiments, accelerators, and theoretical physics. Reports on practical experience with state-of-the-art technology are also acceptable. Authors whose submissions are accepted for the conference will be given 20 to 30 minutes for an oral presentation, including discussion, in one of the conference's parallel sessions. Submissions to the Poster Session The poster session is an alternative forum for authors to present the results of their work. Posters cover the same content areas as parallel session talks, but can provide better focus on technical details or demonstration of specific solutions. It is also suitable for ongoing work which is not yet mature enough for an oral presentation, offering authors a chance to receive some feedback on their project while still at an early stage. Please note that the poster session is a separate session from the oral parallel sessions. Appropriate papers should be submitted directly to the poster session. We would especially like to encourage you to supplement technical papers of a parallel session with a submission to the poster session, as the poster session will be an ideal place for a detailed technical presentation and for a deeper discussion of your project. Authors will be provided with display space and on request with a pre-configured stand-alone multi-media PC, allowing them to enhance their posters with online presentations or demonstrations of their work. If possible, online material will be included in the conference summary CD-ROM. The CD-ROM will be distributed a few weeks after the conference. Deadlines and Timetable o Deadline for abstracts ------ 31 May 1998 o Author notification --------- 1 July 1998 Abstracts both for the parallel sessions and the poster session must be received by the CHEP'98 Conference Secretariat by May 31, 1998. Notification of receipt will be mailed to the first author (or designated author). Notification of acceptance or rejection of submitted papers will also be mailed to the first author (or designated author). Submission Procedure and Format Submissions should preferably be sent through the World-Wide-Web (WWW) using a browser such as Netscape. A submission form can be found and filled in at http://www.hep.net/chep98 under the topic "Abstract Submission". Authors who do not have access to a WWW browser with forms support can submit their abstracts via email, using the abstract submission form and template given below. Please indicate the preferred parallel session. Submissions require an abstract of up to 500 words, written in English, in plain-ASCII format or LaTeX format. Please use the template given below or the form on the CHEP'98 WWW server. Addresses for Submission Preferably submit your abstract via the WWW (see above) or send the filled template via email to email : chep98@anl.gov subject: Abstract submission Other inquiries should be addressed to the CHEP'98 Conference Secretariat. See contact information at the very end of this message. ============================================================================ ==== ABSTRACT SUBMISSION FORM FOR PARALLEL AND POSTER SESSIONS (Plain ASCII) Submitter: Family Name .....................
