It has been determined that the deadlock problem is due to
OS patch 105568-12. Until Sun fixes this, the work around
is to put an unpatched version of libthread.so.1 in a
directory early in your LD_LIBRARY_PATH. There is an
unpatched version in ~nordberg/bin.
This means that we will be able to use a mutlithreaded
Query Estimator for our testing.
